Community Wellness Connection of South Kent
Who We Are:
The Community Wellness Connection (CWC) began in 1996 with community members representing schools, business, youth, parents, churches, government, law enforcement and other community organizations. Our initial concerns related to the illicit use of alcohol, tobacco and other drugs by our youth and the failure of traditional programs focusing on the individual to prevent continued substances abuse. However, our mission has expanded to be pro-active in advocating and promoting healthy and positive behaviors throughout our community.
A volunteer acting-board, representing a cross-section of the community continues to meet to give direction to the activities and development of the CWC. The CWC has received input from similar community coalitions in Michigan to assist in its development and to date has received overwhelming support from members who attended meetings, as well as from the larger community.
The Community Wellness Connection welcomes community input and involvement as it continues to evolve and achieve its goals.
Our Mission:
The mission of the Community Wellness Connection of South Kent is to advocate and assist community wellness by bringing together all the resources of the community.
We believe that prevention is a community wide responsibility. Since the causes of substance abuse as well as other destructive behaviors are complex, their prevention requires a comprehensive and collaborative community approach. The Community Wellness Connection of South Kent is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting a safe, healthy, caring and exciting community.
